THREE SIMPLE STEPS
A video background remover with a straightforward workflow.
Open an MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM or MKV. The video background remover reads it locally; your file is not sent to a processing server.
Choose Green screen MP4, Transparent WebM or Transparent ProRes 4444 MOV. Leave sound on to keep the original audio.
Run the video background remover, check the result, then save your MP4, WebM or MOV. Your original file remains unchanged.
01 / A BETTER WORKFLOW
A video background remover should not turn your clip into a silent film. This tool keeps the primary audio track by default. Compatible audio is copied; when the output format requires it, audio is converted. If the browser cannot preserve the selected audio, processing stops with an explanation instead of silently exporting a muted video. You can also switch sound off when you intentionally need a silent clip.
02 / A BETTER WORKFLOW
Choose Green screen for an H.264 MP4 with a fixed green background. For a cutout you can layer over another video, choose Transparent WebM (VP9) or Transparent ProRes (4444 MOV). Both transparent formats preserve partly transparent edges and need a compatible editor. ProRes files are larger and take longer to export. The tool checks every exported video packet for alpha data and verifies the total frame count before offering a transparent download. Standard H.264 MP4 does not contain transparency.
03 / A BETTER WORKFLOW
The AI model runs on your device. A compatible GPU can speed up processing; otherwise the video background remover uses the CPU. The first run downloads the processing files, which your browser can cache for later visits. Your video and audio stay local. Local processing avoids an upload queue, but speed still depends on the device, browser, clip length and number of frames.
04 / A BETTER WORKFLOW
Use this free video background remover for as many videos as you need. There are no daily quotas, credit purchases, export fees or registration steps, and we add no watermark. Process one file at a time, save your result, then choose another video. Unlimited means no limit on the number of uses: each input still has a 500 MB limit, and processing depends on your device memory, browser support and available storage.
05 / A BETTER WORKFLOW
Use a clear subject with a distinct background and good lighting. Motion blur, transparent objects, very fine hair and similar foreground and background colors are harder for a video background remover. Review a short clip before processing a long one, and watch the edges as the subject moves. Fine hair may be lost, and edges can change between frames.
06 / A BETTER WORKFLOW
Keep Original frame rate when motion detail matters. Choose 15 fps for fewer frames to process, or 24 fps for a middle ground. A lower output resolution creates smaller files, but it does not reduce the AI workload of this video background remover. On a CPU, long clips can take considerable time. Keep the tab open and the device awake while processing; canceling preserves your original file.
GOOD TO KNOW
Choose a video, select one of the three outputs, and click Remove background. The video background remover processes the clip locally. Review the result before downloading, especially around hair, hands and fast movement.
Yes, when Keep audio is enabled and the input has a supported audio track. Transparent WebM uses Opus audio, green screen MP4 uses AAC, and ProRes MOV uses PCM. The tool reports an audio problem rather than silently dropping sound.
The H.264 MP4 export here is opaque and includes a fixed green background. Choose Transparent WebM or Transparent ProRes 4444 MOV for an alpha channel, then open the file in a compatible editor.
The AI model can separate people and other subjects, but results vary by scene. Subjects are selected automatically, so you cannot choose a specific object by clicking it. Multiple subjects, clutter or subjects that blend into the background may produce incomplete cutouts.
The video background remover needs a browser with supported video decoding and encoding. Mobile performance and memory vary considerably. Transparent WebM requires VP9 encoding; if it is unavailable, try Green screen MP4. ProRes uses a separate encoder and requires more memory and storage. Check a short export in your intended editor first.
No. The video background remover downloads its model and code, then processes your files on the device. Large results may use temporary browser storage. Download the result before leaving; this site does not keep an online copy for you.
Your browser must download and initialize the AI model before the first frame. Later runs can reuse cached files and, while the editing session remains active, the loaded model. CPU processing is slower than a compatible GPU and is not real-time on every device.
The video background remover is free, with unlimited uses, no registration and no added watermark. Each file can be up to 500 MB, and your browser must support its codec. Long clips depend on available memory and storage. Model usage terms still apply; see the Terms of Use for commercial use.
